The Damau Household Milk Farm Project was conceived out of the need to facilitate and promote a shift from the current open grazing (nomadic culture) or the culture of herders moving thousands kilometers in search of pastures, to the practice of fixed farm settlements or enclosed and controlled grazing through the development of a farm settlement that will accommodate a 1000 herders/farmers who will engage principally in milk farming and other complementary secondary farming activities.

Located in the forest reserve of Damau, Kubau Local Government Area, the Damau Household milk farm aims to primarily curb the rampant deadly clashes between herders and farmers by gradually settling herders in closed and controlled grazing settlements while establishing well-serviced dairy communities complete with essential social, health and infrastructural facilities.

The Damau Household Milk farm Project is modelled as a Public-Private Partnership between the KDSG and private sector parties, particularly Arla Foods Ltd and other organizations such as Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association. The project aims to contribute to a sustainable and commercially viable dairy sector In Nigeria and to improve the commercial viability of local small-scale farming, including the organization in farming communities.
